General Woodgatewore carpet slippers to lead a nightime attackon the Hill of Spion Kop in January 1900. He thought carpet slippers were ideal footwear for a suprise attack. The battle was a disaster and General Woodgate died of his wounds. Winston Churchill acted as a courier to and from Spion Kop and Mohandass Mahatma Gandhi was also present as a Warrant Officer in the Indian Ambulance Corps. Size: 15in x 10in |
