  • SA DAGGER ADAPTED FOR USE IN THE FIELD - 1933 PATTERN

    £275 : SOLD

    ref: tr-sadagger7f-0218

  • More Images

  • SA Dagger - Standard 1933 Pattern - Maker mark just discernable for "Gebr. Born of Solingen" - solid nickle fittings

Unlike it's contempories the blade has been sharpened and is still razor sharp after all these years - Testing the non-standard leather scabbard reveals considerable age, although it is not possible to determine an accurate date, the slots for fitting to the belt are the exact size to accomodate a Military belt of the period which leads us to believe this was a period adaption to facilitate use in the field - the SS runes are faint and were not visible at all until we applied some leather restorer to the scabbard - one side of the scabbard has had waterproofing applied

This pattern was commissioned in 1933 and first issued for wear in Feb 1934 - The rear of crossguard marked "Wf" the inspection mark for SA Gruppe 'Westfalen' which was replaced by the RZM mark after 1935 dating the dagger itself acurately to 1934/35

Grip, crossguard, pommel and pommel nut all in excellent shape with no evidence of ever being disassembled - patina to nickle fittings - Blade not in good condition but all there

    Blade Length: 8.75ins (22cm)
    Overall length: 15ins (38.1cm)
