ref: trw-ssdagmm-bi SS Dagger 1936 Pattern The front of the blade inscribed with the SS motto "Meine Ehre Heist Treue" (My honour is called loyalty) Solid Nickle fittings to the dagger with the usual plated steel fittings to the scabbard. To qualify for wearing the chained version of this dagger it was necessary to be an officer or to have at least 3 years service as an enlisted man. The dagger is totally original - The scabbard has suffered some corrosion at some stage and has been reblued in accordance with its original finish - The fittings have been replated with some evidence of pitting remaining. Blade in excellent condition, still retaining much of its original cross graining - Grip in excellent condition - one very minor dent to rear of scabbard - any inspection welcome and viewing recommended. ref: trw-italdag8111 WW2 Italian Fascist Leader MVSN M-1937 Dagger - Instigated 1937 - Cast Aluminium Hilt in the shape of the head of the Roman Eagle with black inset bakelite grip The symbol set into the black bakelite grip is the 'Roman Fasces' the symbol of authority of the Roman Empire (the Roman Fasces was seen as a tool of Justice and was used for punishing criminals - and it is where the term 'Fascist' originated from) These daggers were worn by officers of the Milizia Volontaria per la Sicurezza Nationale (Volunteer Militia for National Security) commonly known as the "Black Shirts".
