DOLBERG" - dagger maker marked "SMF" for Stocker & Co. of Solingen - still retaining it's original leather hanger - stamped "K" on the crossguard, thought to be the mark of the foundry company "KREBS" - throat of the scabbard stamped with the DLV logo - the earlier DLV scabbard was leather covered, as this example is, unlike the later NSFK dagger which had a painted, simulated leather effect - An early example of this dagger - The DLV was formed in 1933 and later changed to the NSFK in 1937, both organisations were formed to provide pre-militay training for potential, future members of the Luftwaffe - There was only one model of this dagger authorised for wear by all ranks - The scabbard and grip are wrapped in blue morocco leather with solid cupronickel fittings. In untampered with, original condition and with a lovely aged patina - leather on grip and scabbard in 1st class condition - original leather hanger in excellent condition - undamaged scabbard with dent free ball at the tip Blade Length: 6.875ins (17.5cm) Overall length: 13.25ins (33.7cm) [ABc] |

P. & S." for maker Earnst Pack & Sohne of Solingen MsCARR rarity level 1 (1 being the most common and 10 the most rare) - solid cupronickel fittings - early anodised scabbard identifying that this dagger dates from 1933/34 An uncleaned and untampered with example - Blade in excellent condition retaining most of the original cross graining on both sides, some minor ageing - solid cupronickel cross guards in excellent condition - scabbard anodised finish is the original finish with some wear where it has rubbed against it's wearer - nicely grained undamaged grip - scabbard ball tip has the usual flattening and dent (see "More Images") - any inspection welcome, viewing recommended. ref: trw-parterasedsamm-di Early SA 1933 pattern honour dagger with Rohm's dedication to the reverse of the blade, only Rohm's name having been removed from the dedication under Hitler's orders following the "Night of the Long Knives" 30 June 1934 and Rohm's subsequent murder - maker marked "S.M.F." for Stocker & Co. of Solingen MsCARR rarity level 5 (1 being the most common and 10 the most rare) - solid cupronickel fittings - the Rohm inscription and early anodised scabbard identify that this dagger dates from 1933/34 An uncleaned and untampered with example - Blade is in outstanding, superb condition retaining most of the original cross graining on both sides, the inscriptions to the obverse and reverse are crisp and clear and unusually retain their original black finish indicating the blade not having been polished - solid cupronickel cross guards and fittings in excellent condition - scabbard anodised finish is the original finish with some wear where it has rubbed against it's wearer - nicely grained undamaged grip - scabbard ball tip has survived without being flattened just a couple of minor hardly noticable marks - any inspection welcome, viewing recommended [A.Hm/Dc + 5its] Blade Length: 8.725ins (22.2cm) Overall length: 14.725ins (37cm) |
